PROJECT STORY

When the credit union’s website was relaunched in 2017, a year before I joined Advantis, the team did not optimize the website for mobile experience. Now, there continue to be backend template constraints (since the site is managed by a third party vendor), but we’ve been able to push on the levers we can control: basic user experience improvements, and by copywriting shifts:

  • use graphics and icons for inclusivity and to quickly, wordlessly convey both content structure and meaning

  • reduce scrolling without cutting valuable content (and content required by regulations and compliance)

  • shift away from features and amplify the benefits our research tells us matter most

  • include FAQs to overcome objections, demonstrate ease of business, and build excitement about the product’s value

Advantis Credit Union is the fourth largest credit union in Portland Metro and the State of Oregon. Advantis now serves nearly 80,000 members with digital banking and in-branch financial services at 8 locations in Multnomah, Clackamas, and Washington counties.
